Microsoft Wants India Workers To Go Home

Other tech companies would love to see business-savvy Indian workers join their initiatives in India, but Microsoft drew the most interest at a Silicon Valley recruiting event.

Plenty of engineering talent works in India, but the tech companies employing them would like to see a deeper pool of managerial talent available to oversee them. Much of that potential Indian talent resides in Silicon Valley, and getting managers to consider positions back home hasn't been a successful prospect.

The Register reported on an event hosted in Silicon Valley that matched up the likes of Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo with candidates interested in working for those companies in India.

Surprisingly, it was Microsoft with the crowd at its booth, the report said:

At a recruiting event hosted here by Silicon India last night, workers stood in a line at times 30-people long, looking to drop their resumes off at Microsoft's booth. No other company could claim such an impressive showing. Intel, for example, had seven staffers collecting resumes but only a handful of prospective workers at any time. The rest of the vendors were lucky to have two or three candidates displaying interest.

Part of Microsoft's appeal was a broader selection of job openings, rather than the specific requirements needed by Dell or Intel. Google, advertising four positions in Bangalore, generated little interest.
